3 Rules For Life: From A Mom Of 3 And Full-Time Business Owner

Things are calming down around here since baby girl #3 made her arrival. I am slowly getting back into the groove of a routine after not having one for what feels like an eternity (moms, you hear me on this).

The truth is life with three little ones is much different from life with two and juggling all of it can feel overwhelming. I’m not a pro at work-life balance, and I’m certainly not the poster child for a solid morning routine, but I have been trying to find consistency in these three things that help me stay sane (most of the time).

Putting the kitchen to sleep.
Ok, so I know it sounds kind of weird but doing this has changed my days for the better. After I put the girls down and before I head to bed for the night, I make sure my kitchen is cleaned up, dishes are put away, counters are wiped down and our living spaces look, well… livable. Although it’s something small, it truly sets the tone for the next day.

Asking for help when I need it.
This isn’t the first blog post I’ve written about asking for help, and that’s because it is SO important. Whether you need to hire a babysitter, outsource work, or even call your friend and ask her to bring you an iced coffee, just DO IT! I know you hesitate because you don’t want to feel like a “burden” to other people, but I bet they would love to do anything they could to make your life a little easier.

Prioritizing things that make me feel like me.
I haven’t totally mastered this one, but I’m working on it. Mom guilt is REAL and it’s hard to find time to do things for myself, but I’ve learned I’m a much better mom when I prioritize things that make me feel my best. Lately going on a run, reading a book, getting my nails done, or even just working for a couple of hours gives me the energy I need for the day, while giving me a break from mom life (which is sometimes super necessary).

If you don’t have them already, I hope this post inspired you to think about what some of your guidelines for balance are. Cheers to showing up for ourselves so we can show up for those around us!
