If you follow me on social media, then you know I’ve been a huge bookworm lately. There are some days I’d rather just forget the rest of the world and keep my nose in a book (especially since a lot of days have found me stuck on the couch with morning sickness lately). It’s the perfect escape from work and sitting in front of a screen all day.
Reading takes me to worlds that I could never experience in this lifetime, and I’ve spent my summer plowing through a list of book recommendations from you guys!!
Here are a few of my favorites that I’ve read so far, starting with my most favorite!
The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelide
A psychological thriller about Alicia Berenso, a famous painter married to a successful fashion photographer. She lives in the heart of London, and from the outside, it looks like her life is perfect… until one day her husband returns home from a shoot, and she kills him by shooting him 5 times in the face. After the murder, she never speaks another word. This book follows a criminal psychologist who makes it his mission to unravel the mystery of the widow, as he tries to piece together what happened on that tragic night. I've been recommending this to EVERYONE!
Verity by Colleen Hoover
A romantic thriller following a woman named Lowen who is hired by the husband of famed author Verity Crawford, to complete a series of books his wife is now unable to write due to injury. When Lowen arrives at their home to collect notes for her new job, she walks into a disaster of a study, and she discovers a manuscript with gruesome details from the night the couple's daughter was killed. She plans to keep this manuscript a secret, but she slowly starts falling for the husband, and realizes she must make a choice. Trust me, this one is WILD.
The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena
Anne and Marco’s life is practically perfect. They have a loving relationship, their dream house, and an adorable baby girl named Cora. Then the unspeakable happens, and what starts as a dinner party for Anne and Marco ends in a heinous crime… with the couple being the prime suspects. During the investigation, secrets are revealed from both sides in a chilling story of deception, duplicity, and unfaithfulness. This book literally kept me guessing all the way until the end!
Flight Attendant by Chris Bohjalian
Ok get ready for this one… a flight attendant wakes up in the wrong hotel, in the wrong bed, with a man next to her surrounded by a pool of blood—and no recollection of what happened. She’s thousands of miles away from home, and has no idea what to do, so she begins to lie to everyone about everything. She lies to her fellow flight attendants and the FBI when they question her. Soon enough she’s so far into the lie, she realizes she can’t climb her way out no matter what way she spins the events. Will she come clean to the cops and figure out what really happened that night? You’ll have to read it to find out!
As you can probably tell, I’m definitely into thriller novels. If you’re a reader as well, and you have some suggestions for me, let me know! I’m always down to add to my reading list!
